Making It Up As I Go Along - Marian Keyes

I have always liked Marian Keyes as an author, she has a light touch and always makes me smile.  In this book, she leaves the fiction behind and shares stories from her own life, from articles that have been published or never been shown before.

She is brutally honest about her anxiety and shyness, and made me smile when she talked about her family, her parents, brothers and sister in laws and nieces and nephews.  With a variety of topics and lots of stories, the book came together that made it not feel like lots of disjointed essays.  Instead I felt like I got to know a lot about her and liked her even more as a person. 4/5

The Woman in Cabin 10 - Ruth Ware

This one didn't really work for me.  Lo has some trauma after being terrorized at home. Left with bruises she boards the maiden voyage of a luxury yacht off to take it's clients to see the northern lights. On the first night she thinks she sees something suspicious and spends the rest of the trip trying to prove herself right.

I found the story and characters a bit forced.  Maybe I wasn't quite in the mood for this book,  but I found it a bit of hard work to get through. 2/5

The House at the Edge of Night - Catherine Banner

A sweet little book, that takes you to a small little island in Italy where we get to meet four generations of the same family and their loves and losses.  It all starts with  Amedeo Esposito who comes to the island to work as the local doctor, and falls in love and stays.

It is a gentle novel, not much happens as we follow the family through the 20th century and I felt like I should be lying on a deckchair by the pool wearing a big floppy hat instead of reading it though a chilly winter week. 4/5

Music Monday - Someone That Loves You - Honne and Izzy Bizu

After a little hiatus it was nice to encounter some new music tonight.  This was played on the news as the weather forecasts rolled up.  Of course I had to google it - load it to my itunes and will play it non stop for the next month or so.  It is a nice little feel good tune - something I need on the way to work.

Music Monday - The Way I Am - Ingrid Michaelson

I have been listening to lots of old music lately, and this still seems fresh to me even though it came out in 2007 .  Funny how music can bring you straight back into another era a bit like a time machine, you can remember parties and faces from the past.
