A Street Cat Named Bob

With a longish flight home last night there was time to watch a movie. I had read the book when it came out.  It tells the true life story of James Bowen whose life as a drug addiction changes when he gives up the drugs.  With the help of a kind social worker, he is able to get a council flat and he gets a visit from a ginger tomcat who makes himself at home.

Soon Bob and James are inseparable and become famous with clips of them together watched by millions on YouTube.

I really enjoyed this one, showing that love can come in many forms and from different creatures.   It was also awesome that the real Bob got to play himself in the movie as well as a cameo from the author.   5/5

Movie Monday - Bob at work

Here is a wee movie for your Monday.  This is Bob, he has his own book   .  Poor wee fella, he has to go out to work busking to buy his fancy feasts.  Apparently it is one of my most looked at posts.

It's interesting to look at your blog stats to see what other people are peering at - most curious. The most popular post looked at is a little post I mad in 2010 of a John Cusack movie martian child.

A Street Cat Named Bob - James Bowen

A Street Cat Named Bob - James Bowen (2012)

James is a recovering Heroin addict, who when he wonders home one evening finds a scrappy looking ginger tom sitting outside his apartment.  Eventually he realises he isn't going away so lets him into have some food, and sleep.  Seeing an abscess on his leg, he gets it treated with the vet, and tries to get him back on the street in case he can find his way home.

But Bob, isn't having any of it, and follows James around.  Becoming inseperable, James ends up taking Bob with ime into town, first busking and then when he ends up getting a job selling the Big Issue.

As he realises that Bob depends on him for food, warmth and  companionship James makes decisions in his own life, to give up the methadone treatment, and to reform connections with his estranged family.

A sweet story about a couple of mates.  4/5 as it made me smile on a night of insomnia, when I finally got a couple of hours sleep at 4.30am.
