Chris is a young African Ameriacan photographer who is heading home with his white girlfriend Rose to meet her parents and brother in this little thriller/horror movie. From the first day of arriving in the house things feel odd for Chris, from the odd questions from the parents to the strange housekeeper and groundsman. Poor Chris this isn't looking like it is going to end well?
I quite like a little thriller and this one kept me guessing, even though I was reading the Wikipedia entry while watching it. Then I thought to just put down the computer and watch the movie, even though it was beginning to scare me. I hope I sleep tonight. 4/5

Middle Aged Lady Movie Night ln - Murder On the Orient Express
It was raining outside this evening, and after a longish day at work my plan was to come home and plant myself on the couch after a few small chores were done. I had skipped this one at the cinema, but thought it would be a good sit alone treat.
Stylish it certainly is. The 30s interior style and fashions were beautifully done, and I liked the combinations of actors in the movie. Dame Judi Dench makes everything better, Kenneth Branagh looks aged with his big creepy mustache, Johnny Depp looks old, Penelope Cruz looks constipated, Michelle Pfieffer looks glam and the all the others do a great job of looking worried or like Joey on friends suggested - they look like they are wondering who farted.
Sill my extreme tiredness made me a bit distracted, and I can't say that I was stunned by the story, but that could also be because I have seen a couple of versions over the decades, but still could not remember who the killer was. 3/5

Middle Aged Lady Movie Night In - John Wick 2
Keanu Reeves returns as the brooding John Wick - grieving still for his wife and puppy (be still my middle aged lady heart). There are lots of car chases, screaming tyres, dead baddies and shoot em up scenes - which are not really my scene, but it was ok. They didn't give Keanu too many lines to remember and I liked him looking sad and angry, which happens a lot in this movie. 3/5

Middle Aged Lady Movie Night - Captain Fantastic
This was a little gem of a movie. It could have gone either way, either it was going to be watchable or it was going to be too over the top weird that it wouldn't work, but I found it kind of sweet. Viggo Mortensen plays Ben a father raising his six kids in the forests of North West America. Killing wild animals for meet, and being educated by his series of anti establishment books he raises the kids to mistrust the majority of capitalist America. Then they find out that their mother has died and the family must venture out of their forest home to attend her funeral.
I like the way this movie was handled - not trying too hard to be too oddball and zany, I liked that it was a family that seemed to love and understand each other. The funeral scene at the end may be the oddest that I have seen for some time. 4/5
