We Can See You - Simon Kernick

I don't know.  Brook is a self help guru type living the good life in her big house with husband and daughter when the daughter and nanny go missing, and she becomes the chief subject as bodies keep getting discovered. 

I just didn't buy it - what parent whose daughter is abducted just pops into bed and gets a good nights sleep?  I just felt the story felt a bit forced to me and a bit over the top with stereotype baddies and cops and Brook and Logan were very one dimensional.  I did read until the end, and felt a bit disappointed as I have enjoyed the authors other books. 2/5

The Hanged Man - Simon Kernick

My feelings about this book are quite complex.  Part of me enjoys a thriller, where there is danger all around, as the killers may strike at any time.  This is part 2 of The Bone Field series, where we meet DI Ray Mason on the hunt for the killers of 7 young women brutally murdered.  The other part of me dislikes stories where women are hunted and treated as victims, I don't enjoy the violence, and books that give me the feeling that the series may drag on and we may be subjected to many more stories that repeat the same plot over and over for years to come.  The saving grace is that I find the author quite readable and able to keep up an even pace, keeping me wanting to return to the story and I get the feeling that we may be coming to the conclusion to this particular group of nasty criminals. 3/5

The Bone Field - Simon Kernick

A young girl goes missing 21 years ago on a holiday in Thailand, but there are secrets about her fate just waiting to be revealed in this fast paced thriller by Simon Kernick.

Without giving the plot away there is lots of baddies, an earnest but flawed cop (are there any other kinds of police?), a tough heroic private eye, tough street guys, scared woman, guns, knives, chasing and gangs.

This book reminded me of early Lee Childs and Peter James and look forward to the next one, especially as this ended on a cliffhanger.  4/5

The Witness - Simon Kernick

Jane witnesses the brutal torture and murder of her lover and now needs the police to protect her, as the killers are now after her.  Ray Mason, a hardened London detective, well he is sent in to find out who did it.  Random killers, criminals or terrorists.

So then we get lots of guns, shooting, torture and running .  I did enjoy my first Simon Kernick novel, a very good contender in the thriller genre. 4/5.
